From the cool volcanic highland of Ravensbourne to the tropical ground at Utchee Creek, twelve hundred kilometres apart, we grow trees the slow way: in the open ground, root-pruned through their lives, ready to be remembered.
Signature Trees continues fifty years of growing by James and Barbara McGeoch: Australia's first ISO-certified nursery, the avenue trees of Disneyland Hong Kong, and, under its former name, the first farm in Australia and New Zealand to certify as a B Corporation.

How a tree earns its signature

Grown in the ground, not in a bag
Every tree on our farms is grown in the open ground and root-pruned through its life, so it arrives with a dense, self-reliant root system. Rows are plotted, trees are numbered, and north is marked on every root ball so each tree can be planted facing the sun exactly as it grew.

Lifted with its world intact
When its day comes, a four-blade tree spade lifts the tree with its root ball whole, up to three tonnes of it, into a hessian-lined, engineer-rated wire basket. The tree is planted basket and all, and the basket simply returns to the earth.

Craned into its new garden
Trees travel under shade cloth, held by yokes that protect trunk and canopy on the road. We place each tree by crane wherever the garden calls for it, and delivery is scheduled and quoted for your site.
